Frequently asked questions

What are some common concerns or hesitations people have before starting counselling, and how do you address them?

Many people are hesitant to start counselling due to privacy concerns, the feeling of vulnerability, or the fear of being judged. We address these concerns by creating a safe, confidential, and non-judgmental space where clients can openly explore their thoughts and feelings at their own pace. We also ensure that clients are fully informed about the confidentiality policies and boundaries of the therapeutic relationship.

Fully backed up with practice independent supervision and the ethical framework of the BACP.

I have had the privilege of assisting numerous clients in exploring various aspects of their identity, understanding their place in society, addressing past traumas, planning for the future, and celebrating their unique individuality. For instance, I have supported clients in:

  • Navigating the complexities of coming out to family and friends.
  • Processing and healing from experiences of discrimination and trauma.
  • Developing personalised strategies for self-care and mental well-being.
  • Setting and achieving personal and professional goals.
  • Celebrating milestones and achievements in their journey of self-discovery.

What times are you available for sessions?

We are open Monday to Friday 9.30 am to 4.30pm and we do close for lunch from 12.30 am to 1.30 pm.

What makes your 'Integrative Counselling' different from other types of counselling, and why should someone choose it?

Integrative Counselling, as practised at Simons Safe Space, is a flexible approach that draws upon various therapeutic models to tailor treatment to each individual's specific needs and goals. Unlike some other approaches that rigidly adhere to a single theory, Integrative Counselling allows us to select the most effective techniques from different schools of thought, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy. This allows for a more holistic and personalised experience. If you're looking for a counselling service in Doncaster, that is adaptive, responsive and focused on your journey, Integrative Counselling at Simons Safe Space may be the right choice for you.

Could you share some examples of the kind of issues or situations that counselling can help with?

Counselling can be beneficial for a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, stress management, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, trauma, low self-esteem, and life transitions. We also work with individuals seeking personal growth, self-discovery, and improved overall well-being. Whatever your reason for considering counselling, Simons Safe Space offers a supportive and collaborative environment to explore your challenges and develop effective coping strategies.

What is the length of the session?

the session lasts for 50 minutes, this gives our practitioner time to complete notes ready for the next client.

If I miss a session what happens?

If you cancel a session the week before there is no charge for missed appointments, it is recommended that sessions booked are adhered to to help with your journey.

Life does get in the way sometimes and after a discussion, we can re-book for a more convenient time, remember missed sessions without communication costs, 50% to help pay for cost of provision.
